News & Resource Sharing
  • The Bloom Collective - This is a wonderful new Baltimore resource, created by Study Group participant Desiree Israel and four colleagues. Grand Opening event will take place this Sat, 12/1 from 4-7pm.  More info at: https://www.facebook.com/events/1092526357579769/.
    *The Bloom Collective will host a bi-weekly group for new parents - From Bump to Baby. Thursdays, starting 12/13 (6-7:30pm). Partner participation encouraged. $10 per indiv or couple.



  • The University of Maryland Women’s Mental Health Program has developed outreach posters that provide education on the prevalence and symptoms of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. The posters also provide the contact information for the WMHP intake line. If you would like a poster for your office, please contact Lauren Carpenter at [email protected].


  • Maryland Families for Safe Birth has opened registration for their May 19th (2019) Baltimore Birth Festival, which will be at Patterson Park. There are some free spaces set aside for non-profits. More info at:  https://www.facebook.com/MarylandFamiliesForSafeBirth/


  • Mindful Motherhood Group forming for January 2019, in Columbia. $350 registration includes 16 hours of mindfulness training, post-group debrief phone call, and group reunion.  Contact: Miranda Layton, LCSW-C - 443.393.6708. [email protected]


  • 2018 PSI Annual Conference will be held in Portland, OR  June 26-30, 2019
 
  • PSI  Maryland Chapter formed in 2018

  • Free PSI Perinatal Psychiatric Consultation Line! For medical providers prescribing medications to participants who are trying to conceive, are pregnant or breastfeeding. Postpartum Support International (PSI) expert perinatal psychiatrists are available to share their skills and expertise with fellow medical professionals, providing necessary guidance and reassurance on any matter, but particularly those that may be more challenging. The service is free and available by appointment.  Dial 1-800-944-4773, ext 4 and leave a message. You will be contacted within one business day to make an appointment with an expert perinatal/reproductive psychiatrist.
 
  • Perinatal Mental Health Certification through PSI - available as of August 2018.  Eligibility requirements and details available at:  http://www.postpartum.net/professionals/certification/


  • PSI has launched an online “directory of qualified perinatal mental health professionals in the US!”  Please encourage all the specializing mental health providers you know to sign up as soon as possible, so we can begin to use this wonderful tool locally.
