​The March 16th meeting welcomed 13 participants.  Thanks to those who joined us!


News & Resource Sharing
  • Maryland Task Force to Study Maternal Mental Health  ->  SB600/ HB775. 
    The MD senate bill passed unanimously w/ slight modifications. House bill scheduled to be heard this week
    From MHAMD: “SB 600 / HB 775 will ensure that mothers and their families have information necessary to recognize signs and symptoms of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders when they occur, and that providers have the training and resources necessary to address the mental health needs of their pregnant and postpartum patients.”   Updates available at https://www.mhamd.org/  (Go to News & Events -> Weekly Legislative Up    

  • The non-profit organization Postpartum Progress has shut down; info/ articles remain available online

  • Perinatal Mental Health Alliance for Women of Color - http://www.pmhawoc.org/
    **Newly created!** with co-founder Desirée Israel, LGSW right here in Baltimore!
    According to website, “60% of women of color do not receive any treatment or support services for perinatal emotional complications.  Reasons for this include lack of insurance coverage, social and cultural stigma, logistical barriers to services, and lack of culturally appropriate care….  Vision:  To provide a safe space for clients, families, and professionals of color around perinatal mental health.”
